8 VEGETABLES TO PLANT IN JULY AND AUGUST FOR FALL HARVEST (ZONE 6)
Although July and August may seem like the time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor in the garden, it is also when you should be thinking about fall harvest vegetables. The following vegetables, if sown or planted in July and August, will keep you harvesting a variety of vegetables into September and October.
1. Peas (Sow seeds directly in the garden in the middle to late July)
2. Bush Beans (Sow seeds directly in the garden in the middle to late July)
3. Summer Squash (Sow seeds directly in the garden in the middle to late July)
4. Carrots (Sow seeds directly in the garden through July until the end of August)
5. Beets (Sow seeds directly in the garden through July until the end of August)
6. Radishes (Sow seeds directly in the garden through July until the end of August)
7. Greens such as Lettuce, Spinach, Kale and Swiss Chard (Since these seeds don't germinate well in hot temperatures, consider starting indoors and transplanting outdoor when the temperatures cool down in late August/September at which time you can seed directly in garden)
8. Broccoli (Start seeds indoors in July and transplant seedings into garden in September)
